Man Charged With Arson, Insurance coverage Fraud Associated to Hearth at His Dwelling

A Vermont man has been charged with first diploma arson and insurance coverage fraud for allegedly setting hearth to his own residence in Stamford.

The Stamford Hearth Division responded to a fireplace on Mill Street on the morning of December 27. Crews noticed heavy black smoke from the eaves and a smoke-filled first flooring with flames seen on the base of partitions alongside either side of a staircase. Firefighters reported they have been capable of save the construction.

Stamford Hearth Chief Paul Ethier contacted the Vermont Division of Public Security Hearth & Explosion Investigation Unit for help in figuring out the origin and reason for the fireplace. The investigation unit decided the trigger to be arson and, upon additional investigation, recognized Joseph Pallas, of Stamford, as the person who investigators imagine purposely set hearth to his residence.

Vermont State Police reported that on December. 30, Pallas was issued a quotation on prices of first-degree arson and insurance coverage fraud. He’s scheduled to look for arraignment in February within the legal division of Vermont Superior Court docket in Bennington.

The affidavit of possible trigger can be made public following Pallas’ arraignment.
